Ensure optimum flow through your silos with fluidisation systems
Bridging in silos is a common problem with bulk materials such as flour, cocoa, cement, silica, catalyst and fly ash. When a product accumulates against the silo wall, the process comes to a standstill, resulting in damage, downtime and additional work. Fluidisation systems introduce a controlled flow of air into the silo, ensuring the product remains loose and can flow out without interruption. This prevents damage to the silo and ensures a predictable, stable and clean loading process. Thanks to our bespoke solutions, we integrate fluidisation seamlessly into existing installations and new systems.
Installing a fluidisation pad
A fluidisation pad is a simple yet effective way of providing local aeration within the silo. The installation involves four basic steps that you can carry out yourself:
- Drill holes in the silo at the correct locations;
- Position the pads;
- Secure them with a washer, a lock washer and a nut;
- Connect the pipe(s) to a closed-loop air circuit.

Bespoke fluidisation beds
A fluidisation floor is a bespoke solution that prevents the build-up of product – also known as bridging – within the silo. These floors ensure that the product is fluidised across the entire cone using air. These bases are designed entirely to specification and ensure even aeration across the entire surface, allowing even cohesive products to flow out smoothly. As every silo is unique, here at Veenstra we are able to manufacture a fully fluidised lower cone for your existing silo. This significantly improves the discharge performance.
