Valves for bulk handling and bulk loading

Whichever bulk industry you work in, reliable valves are essential for controlling product flows safely and efficiently. Veenstra Technology supplies a wide range of high-quality valves specially designed for dry bulk materials. We offer bespoke solutions, ranging from simple manually operated gate valves to high-precision metering valves. Below you will find an overview of the applications, benefits and use of each valve type within your bulk handling process.

Gate valves

Reliable valves for silos and hoppers, featuring a wide passage and a robust seal. Ideal for both shutting off and metering bulk materials in gravity-fed systems.

Segment valves

For powders that are difficult to handle, segment valves provide an unobstructed passage without disrupting the flow. Thanks to their compact design and tight seal, they are suitable for a wide range of applications.

Diverter valves

Route a single product flow to multiple destinations without the need for manual switching or additional pipework. Diverter valves make your system flexible and ready to cope with changes in the process.

Metering valves

Control the product flow continuously and precisely with a metering valve that also shuts off completely. Indispensable for loading, mixing or packaging where a consistent feed rate is essential.

Integration with complete bulk loading systems

As specialists in bulk loading, Veenstra Technology looks beyond just the valve. Our valves are often part of comprehensive solutions designed to ensure your logistics process runs smoothly and dust-free:

Valves with air slides

For silos containing powdered products such as cement, we regularly combine a slide gate or metering valve with an airslide. The airslide ensures a fluidised product flow, whilst the valve regulates the feed rate. This combination guarantees high throughput and prevents blockages.

Valves and loading bellows

For loading lorries, containers or ships, we supply loading bellows with an integrated valve. The valve opens as soon as the bellow is correctly positioned and closes immediately after filling. This ensures the process remains dust-free and safe. Swivel valves make it possible to operate multiple unloading points with a single system, for example when alternately loading two vehicles. With this system, you can keep the process running without interrupting the flow.

Silobo base with fluidisation pads and valve

For materials that do not flow well, we fit silo cones with aeration pads in combination with a shut-off valve. The pads blow air into the silo outlet, causing the product to loosen and flow more freely. When used in conjunction with a slide gate or segment gate, the outlet can be reliably opened or closed. This system is often used for lime, flour, talc and similar powders.

Safety and maintenance

Our valves can be fitted with features to ensure safe operation and easy maintenance. These include level sensors that automatically control the valves, or interlocks that prevent them from opening unless they are correctly connected. A bypass, such as a maintenance valve, ensures the system remains operational during servicing. Each valve is positioned to fit seamlessly within the overall process, from silo to loading point. This ensures your plant performs at its best.

Working together to find a suitable solution for your bulk system

With nearly a century of experience in bulk handling systems, Veenstra Technology works with you to optimise your process. We assess the entire installation and advise on the right combination of valves and associated components. This results in a reliable and well-coordinated system with minimal waiting times and minimal product loss. Our valves are a key component, but it is the overall integration that makes the system work. That is why we support every project from design right through to commissioning.
